2004 Studio 9 Salon LLC was incorporated in 2004. The original store was comprised of 1,200 square feet. It supported 8 hair styling stations and two nail stations.

By late 2004 customer demand surpassed the size of the store. The facility size was doubled to a configuration of 2,400 square feet supporting 12 styling stations and 4 nail tables.

2010 We built a state-of-the-art new free-standing building. It is located just 300 feet South of our original store. This facility supported 20 styling stations, 5 nail stations, 2 pedicure stations and a wax room. Our new salon has many design features that have a direct effect on our clients. Features include a engineered lighting system that supplies a 5500K light color. This mimics the same color that natural daylight provides. This will assure you that you hair color will look stunning in all types of lighting. We have an engineered point of use ventilation system at our nail tables. Our downdraft system expels harmful chemical agents out through the roof of the building. This provides our employees and customers a safe environment from chemical exposures. It has eliminated the chemical smell associated with some nail and hair salons.

Clients indicate that a trait of salons success is providing a friendly atmosphere and attention to detail. Approximately 55% of our new business is obtained from customer referrals.

2017 Our business model has always included weddings as a major part of our business. At this time many brides were moving away from traditional church weddings to warehouses, ships and barns. Brides were asking that stylist come to homes, hotel rooms or venues to furnish hair and makeup services. As an employer this presents some difficulties. Our main concern was safety to our employees and our clients. Adding 10 to 12 wedding guest and 4 beauty professionals in a residence or hotel room can prove difficult. Our hot tools that reach 425 degrees can cause a severe burn from a slight touch, and easily burn furniture. Cords to power our tools can overpower the electrical system and also become a tripping hazard. Lighting is generally poor and the lack of ventilation with hair spray residue can become a health hazard to persons with respiratory issues and a mess to clean up after the wedding party has left. For our employees working non stop for hours on your feet without adjustable styling chairs can cause back and painful issues. To solve these problems, we designed and built vehicles that travel to a site to perform services in a safe and comfortable environment. We currently have 3 units for weddings and commercial work.

2023 We added a new location in Shelby Township Michigan. Our new location supports 8 styling stations with 2 make-up stations. This facility also includes a private wedding room.

Studio 9 Salon employees are the heart of our operation. The salon employs 50 persons ranging from receptionist to State of Michigan Licensed Stylists and Nail Technicians. Our employees, like our client base, are wide and varied. We have many seasoned stylists and some just entering the business. Employee turnover is very low. Most have been with the salon since inception or joined our salon soon after expansion.

The use of technology is a major contributing factor to the success of the salon. The salon has a custom software application that provides critical information on the salon’s product inventory, clients and employees.  The salon’s computer network connects twelve workstations in our facility.
